PRECISION
coach stewart
Hello. My name is Sean Stewart and I am the Founder of the PRECISION BASKETBALL training program and the Athletic Director for the girls’ and boys’ select basketball teams known as THE PLAYMAKERS. The basketball court has always been a second home and being able to provide professional level training to young athletes, is a dream come true. I rarely talk about my basketball achievements because it is not about me or my accomplishments but about establishing a great foundation for every young athlete that comes through the door. I am blessed to call Larnetta Stewart my companion, best friend, critic, business partner, soul mate but MOST IMPORTANTLY my spouse. We have four beautiful and talented children: LaPortia, Kaitlyn, Sean Jr., and Ryan. Each one of them are microcosms of the best we have to offer. Each of them gave me the push to move forward and are instrumental to the success of the Precision Basketball program. They are my everything!
GROWING UP
Everything was a competition in Coach Stewart's house growing up. This competition began with his parents and continued with all six of his siblings. He is the middle child who ALWAYS strived to beat everyone in everything. In high school, he was a typical undersized, above average young athlete with a passion to compete. Coach Stewart describes Harry Stewart Sr. as his mentor, critic, trainer, inspiration, and his dad. Harry Stewart Sr. instilled the desire, confidence, and the grit it takes to succeed in anything Coach Stewart put his mind to. Angela Stewart was his biggest fan, lucky charm, cheerleader, and instilled courage, commitment, and the passion for the game. Nicholas Stewart was his fiercest competitor, enforcer, teammate, and was always there to pick Coach Stewart up (after he beat him down…lol). Lastly, Coach Gerald Anthony. Coach “Ant” gave our Coach Stewart the opportunity, freedom, and discipline to become a leader and ultimately the inspiration for him to become a coach. Under the leadership of Coach Anthony, he never loss a game in three years (which is still a school record to this day at John Tyler High).
COACHING
In addition to being a pro caliber player, he brings his knowledge and experience to player development and coaching. Coach Stewart focuses primarily on elementary and middle school aged athletes to establish a solid foundation through his detail-specific, disciplined instruction. Serving as the Director of Skill Development and Head coach for Nemesis Athletics, he developed a group of hungry players into arguably the best 12U team in the area. During the Playmakers inaugural season, he developed his 12U team to another great season and a 2018 National Championship, while the 10U team received a 3rd place finish at the same Nationals. Coach Stewart took on additional coaching responsibilities at The Woodlands Christian Academy (TWCA) where he implemented his training program and became the Head Coach for middle school leading the 6th/7th grade team to HAPS runner-up finish, two years in a row (school record) and the 8th grade team from last place to the HAPS tournament champions (1st in school history).
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Coach Stewart is very passionate about the process of development and it shows. He has a five-star skill development program at three locations: Spring/Conroe, Houston, and East Texas. It is no surprise that Coach Stewart was recently voted as one of the top ten instructors in the area. When asked why so passionate about skill development, Coach Stewart replied, “Giving young athletes a great foundation in basketball goes far beyond learning how to dribble a ball. The tools that we teach builds leaders. While learning technique, form, balance, weight transfer, and all the mechanical things that apply when learning the game, young athletes also learn the importance of time management, discipline, communication, teamwork, working through adversity, respect, to say the least.”
